Shell Creek is among the first vineyards planted in San Luis Obispo County (1972) and features marine limestone soils. Though located in a warmer area, the climate provides wide diurnal temperature shifts that drastically cool the vines overnight.

In 2023 we made two different Shell Creek Chenins—this is our "orange" skin-contact version. These own-rooted Chenin grapes were destemmed and fermented on the skins for 10 days before pressing. We love the added texture and unique phenolic traits that this wine provides.
