This is the first Pinot Noir we've ever made for Outward and was a special, one-time opportunity to source Pinot grapes from Bassi. Only 72 cases produced!
Located just 1.2 miles from the cold Pacific, Bassi is the most coastal site we source from and is farmed organically with biodynamic practices and inputs. The Dijon clone 115 Pinot from this block is planted on a southwest-facing hillside exposed to the cool wind and fog from the Pacific.
Upon harvest, we fermented with 50% whole cluster inclusion, performing foot stomps and gentle punchdowns for 11 days before pressing and then aging in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months. We love the way the herbal tones compliment the lush dark fruit concentration of this powerful wine.
tasting notes: eucalyptus, black cherry, fig, green tea
biodynamic / 50% whole cluster / native yeast / unfined / unfiltered
