Planted in 1971, Shell Creek Vineyard is among the first vineyards planted in San Luis Obispo County and is organically farmed. This remote vineyard of the Paso Robles Highlands District sits beneath limestone cliffs featuring marine fossils after which the vineyard was named.
In 2022, we made two different Shell Creek Chenins—first of which we're releasing is our "orange" skin-contact version. These grapes were destemmed and underwent a native fermentation on the skins for 10 days. After pressing, the juice was transferred to neutral oak barrels and aged on its lees for 7 months before bottling without fining or filtration.
This Chenin is a textural delight and features flavors and aromas of candied ginger, almond, brûléed pineapple, and rustic umami tones on the palate.
Only 72 cases produced.
